A book-shaped monument made of corten steel – Leszno

We recently had the pleasure of completing a unique commission in Leszno – a monument in the shape of an open book made entirely of 6 mm thick Corten steel. From the outset, the project was distinguished by its unusual form and required a combination of experience, precision, and considerable creativity. Corten, due to its visual appeal and durability, is ideal for such projects, but working on elements with such a complex shape was a real challenge.

Corten Monument Made to Order

The most difficult step turned out to be bending the sheets into the characteristic waves that would convey the effect of turning pages. Each element had to be planned and prepared with the utmost precision to ensure the entire structure retained its lightness and resembled a real book. This required the use of specialized bending methods and multiple adjustments of individual fragments to achieve the desired result.

The implementation also required close collaboration with the architects and Inviso Texto, the company handling the project. This ensured that all stages of the project – from concept, through technical execution, to final assembly – proceeded smoothly and as planned. This combination of design expertise and implementation experience allowed us to achieve a result that fully met the investors’ expectations.

In creating this custom-made Corten steel monument, it was also crucial to maintain the aesthetics and details, which play a key role in the monument. Corten steel, thanks to its natural patina process, gives the monument a unique character – over time, the surface becomes covered with a noble, reddish-brown protective layer, making the work fit beautifully into the urban space. Every detail, from proportions to edges and welds, was meticulously crafted to ensure the monument met both technical and artistic requirements.

The final result exceeded our expectations – the result is not just a steel sculpture, but a symbolic work that combines the durability of the material with the lightness of form. The monument in Leszno is proof that Corten steel can become not only an architectural element but also an artistic material, allowing the expression of ideas and emotions. We are proud to have been a part of this project and to have delivered an installation that will delight residents and visitors for years to come.
