The process of creating this monumental form required advanced technologies: laser cutting, precise bending and welding of Corten steel, as well as chrome plating of individually crafted metal bowls. Our design and construction team demonstrated the highest level of experience – each stage required precision, planning, and artistic sensitivity.
Every weld, every curve, and every surface were meticulously crafted to create a harmonious and cohesive form. Despite the technological advancement, it was the hand-finished work that gave the monument its unique character. The final effect is the result of a synergy of craftsmanship, technology, and artistic vision.

On August 2, 2025, the official unveiling of a monument took place in Prof. Józef Kałużny Square in the center of Bydgoszcz – an eye-shaped artistic installation made of COR-TEN® steel. The monument was designed by Piotr Wesołowski’s design team and constructed by our company. We are delighted that the Cortena brand could participate in this significant project. This is a special moment for the city and our company.
Prof. Józef Kałużny Square Kałużny Square – Bydgoszcz
Professor Kałużny Square, located between Focha, Królowej Jadwigi, and Grottgera Streets, recently underwent revitalization. Its focal point is a circular plaza, where an eye sculpture was unveiled today. This symbolic place combines nature, history, and art – the perfect backdrop for our artistic installation.
Corten Steel Monument
The sculpture, which stands at the heart of the square, is made of a unique material – Corten steel, known for naturally developing a layer of patina that protects it from corrosion. This is not only an aesthetic choice but also a practical one – this material is extremely durable, resistant to changing weather conditions, and its color develops noble, reddish hues over time, blending perfectly with its surroundings. The shape of the monument – a stylized eye – is the result of a complex design process that combined knowledge of anatomy, optics, and sculptural expression.
Creating this form required advanced metal cutting and bending technology, as well as extensive artistic experience. The result is an object that not only intrigues with its form but also provokes reflection – on the perception of the world, on mindfulness, and the meaning of looking.
As a company specializing in creating urban architecture elements from Corten steel, we are proud to have been able to implement such an important project and bring something timeless to public spaces.
